The element of luck …
Two blogs I frequent for two very different reasons and two different people with very different levels of success although can be both considered successful in the broad sense of the word. Tyler Cruz and Chris Aspen.
First off this post does have some significance it is intended to illustrate that element of luck that a chosen few will get when they are effectively in the right place at the right time and contrast it against forward thinking, innovative individuals that create their own luck using hard work and proven techniques. Both however need luck deservedly or not to push them on and make their creations a good ROI.
Once again this post is not meant to cause any offence what so ever and as already stated both the publishers I am comparing have had and are still living on good success.
Lets take a look at the publishers mentioned. Tyler Cruz is a young fella that seems to be doing well for himself but is what one can only describe as a lucky son of a gun. He got into the poker web site niche at the right time as well as holding onto a domain he had for several years and monetizing it. The majority of other things he has tried since as documented in his blog haven’t been ragingingly successful and he puts himself across as slightly naive to any new venture. His blog is more a guilty pleasure for me as I tend to cringe as much as learn when I go there.
On the other hand we have Chris Aspen. The true meaning of the word inspiration. Chris started using free public domain content for Niche web sites before it became ‘vogue’ for all to do it. He now authors what I would consider to be the most informative publisher web site around. He is on a different level of success from 90% of web site publishers around and has worked to get there.
What do these two have in common. Well they both put what they had out there and gave it a chance for success whether through luck or not . Their projects were out there waiting to be discovered and eventually they were.
Both of these two have had failures along the way that I am very sure of but unless you put what you have out there you haven’t even got the chance of getting lucky.
If you create something you have a 100% chance of failure but if you don’t create it you have 0% chance of success.
This is something I have been thinking about a lot lately. There are times when an idea will pop into mind and be forgotten about just as quickly. The fact is having part of idea to build on at a later date is better than completely forgetting a good idea. There is always a chance that I could be lucky with the idea or alternatively I can develop the idea using hard work and determination . Actually making time for things that I claim to have no time for …
