Phrase Rank another step towards a better web from google.
What is Phrase Rank ?
Users search the web using mostly phrases but Google and many other search engines still rely on individual keywords for the most part to serve their results. Phrase Rank would be a way for Google to bridge the gap between what people are searching for and the content of a web page regardless of keyword manipulation.
What does this mean for SEO ?
It means that keyword manipulation is out. In fact this new algorithm could spell the end of the text link trade altogether because Google’s results will not be as dependant on link popularity as they once were. It also means that MFA web sites will no longer get any attention and tricking your way to a high Google ranking is out of the question. It is basically just another reason to start believing if you don’t already that content really is king.
When will it start to take effect ?
Nobody is sure really. This new system is just proposed at this point and to what degree it will affect current rankings on the current PR system is unknown. I am sure there will be plenty of news on this to follow.
