Ask.com launching their own CPC network ??
Well this rumour has been doing the rounds of the last few days. I have been in a quandry over whether or not to post up about it in anticipation that it may be a fake. I say this because I am yet to see an official release from ask themselves. But looking at my google adsense account earnings for the day I couldn’t help but post mostly out of hope that there may be another way for me to earn an honest cpc from my web sites.
Apparently the new ask network will give power back to the publisher. Power that adsense never really gave and even still have removed more and more as their position becomes stronger and stronger.
This power comes in the form of CPC vs CTR option effectively. The publisher can offset the price of a click against the relevance of the ads. This sounds good upon first reading but when you think about it could be a recipe for disaster. I am sure there will be much more talk on this if the network ever comes to light. Also the ask network gives publishers more transparency regarding the ads shown on their sites, sounds good.
If this is official and its a big if then it would be great that this news has only come out around 20 days before the official launch date. It may mean that we (and by we I mean us european folk) will be able to get an account sometime this year unlike the Yahoo Publisher network which seem intent on destroying any buzz they ever had.
